Rap as the New Buffalo | Brad Bellegarde | TEDxRPLCentralLibrary

Written by rts007

Brad, also known as InfoRed, is a performer, story teller and educator. To him, Hip Hop is not merely a popular art form but an essential tool in Indigenous Education. First Nations cultures are deeply rooted in storytelling, and rap is a form of storytelling that youth can relate to and understand. Brad shares his perspective through story and performance in his powerful talk.

CBC Future 40 winner and Neechie Gear Role Model, Brad Bellegarde aka InfoRed has rocked the microphone across Turtle Island and has been featured at events such as the 2014 North American Indigenous Games, Aboriginal Music Week in Manitoba, APTN’s Aboriginal Day Live and Vancouver’s Olympic Games celebrations. Brad is a proud Nakota/Cree member of the Little Black Bear First Nation who calls Regina home. A true believer that education is the new Buffalo, he works with schools to present his unique methods of education. Brad is also a storyteller through his journalism. InfoRed was invited to perform for His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall during their Royal visit in 2012.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
